The Long and the Short of it...

I love podfics of all shapes and sizes! I love that I can always find something to fit into different situations, jobs lengths, and varying attention spans. Here are a few of my favourite podfics of varying lengths.



1) In Practice by inlovewithnight read by klb - Elementary - gen - 11:56 - non-sexual kink.
Summary: Determining their edges, how they orient to each other, how they fit, is more engrossing than she thought it would be.

I found this podfic mesmerising. klb maintains an intimate and intense pace, which kept me hyper-focused on the narrative. klb did an amazing job, and I feel like this short podfic captured the relationship in such a perfect and contained way. I have listened multiple times and I find it incredibly soothing.

2) Froot Loops written and read by fire_juggler - X-Men - Logan/Rogue - 6:06
Summary: Logan and Rogue eat cereal together. That's pretty much it.

This is a very cute podfic that made me smile. Two people sharing a lovely moment during the early hours of the morning. fire_juggler narrates this story in a lovely even tone, which captured the intimacy of the scene very well. I felt like the scene of the early hour allowed a peek of Rogue's vulnerability to shine through, and made the world seem for a moment like it was just for the two of them.


3) Body's Telling Me Yes by popfly read by readbyanalise010 - Hockey RPF - Patrick Kane/Jonathan Toews - 06:06
Summary: Humping!

A small scene into a relationship. It's cute and hot and makes for a thoroughly enjoyable 6 minutes. readbyanalise010 brings the humour as well as the intimacy. These two guys are ridiculous and I loved listening to this podfic.

4) Still Here by icarus_chained read by cantarina - Avengers - gen - Tony & Rhodey - 3.28
Summary: Just a tiny Tony & Rhodey moment, in the aftermath of Avengers.

I loved this insight into the characters. It was a different perspective than I was used to and it was a true delight. I loved how cantarina presented the characters with such finesse and dynamism. I love Rhodey and I really enjoyed getting a slice of his character.



5) It's Complicated by katarin read by madecunningly - Hockey RPF - Carey Price/PK Subban - 4:29:42
Summary: It's PK's rookie year and he's not sure what this thing with Carey is. He also doesn't know it's a thing at all. Sometimes PK's pretty dumb.

I do not have enough words for how much I love this podfic, I have listened twice and both times were awesome, and I had a huge smile on my face the entire time. madecunningly brings such enthusiasm and energy to the character voices, and they are a delight to listen to. This is quite a long podfic, and the emphasis is on PK the entire time, the narrative keeps you engaged and invested.





6) We Know How It Works (the world is no longer mysterious) by Pistol read by seussian - The Losers - Carlos "Cougar" Alvarez/Jake Jensen - 9:03:17
Summary: Cougar keeps popping up next to Jensen after that. And much like Jensen’s sudden influx of facial hair, Jensen decides to keep him.


A lovely long podfic, which I have listened to twice. It is full of FOUND FAMILY feels and \o/ TEAM feels! seussian does a great job with Cougar's voice and the spanish too. I cannot decide which pov is better, both are read so well! The background characters are excellent and distinct, and so much attention is paid to all the little details. I really felt like I could hear how much seussian loved this story in the reading.

This is the second podfic in a series, first one here. I read the stories in the wrong order, but both podfics are lovely.

7) Charlotte Francine Xavier by Blind_Author read by rhea314 - X-Men: First Class - Charlotte Xavier/Erik Lensherr - 7:08:56
Summary: Written for a prompt. A look at how the events of the movie would have changed if Charles was a woman. Very dark subject matter - past child abuse, past rape, mentions of the Holocaust.

A huge amount of thought went into this concept and it presents a truly interesting look at how Charles being a woman would have changed the story. rhea314 is truly amazing! At one point I had to send her a voice message at 2 in the morning while I was listening because I was overcome with feels. The podfic is deeply moving and intense in places, but is an overall brilliant listen, which I highly recommend.
